The pinch test
The physician checks the under-chin and jaw by pinching and with your head in different positions. If the fullness is not fat, InMode is unlikely to be the right choice, and you are told so. Suitable zones include the under-chin, jaw and lower cheeks.
Limits
Reduction of the heated fat layer is the intended effect, and how much occurs varies. Forma RF heats the skin itself as a stimulus for collagen remodelling, which is an intended response rather than an assured result. The clinic does not claim treatment of the SMAS layer.
Alternatives
A fat-dissolving injection is another option for a small, defined pocket under the chin. Onda and Tuneliner Face address contour and laxity with other energy types. If a square lower face comes from the jaw muscle, botulinum toxin may be discussed instead.
Sensation and aftercare
With FX, suction draws up a fold of skin and fat, so heat and pulling are expected; settings are adjusted if it becomes uncomfortable. Redness, warmth, tenderness or swelling can follow. Avoid heavy drinking, saunas and hard exercise for the period set, and use sunscreen outdoors.
