Bring these questions
- Will my hair colour and skin tone respond well, and what precautions apply to my settings?
- How many sessions does my area likely need, and can I continue the course at home?
- Do my current medications or a recent tan mean I should wait?
What decides suitability
Very light, grey or red hair responds poorly to laser in general, and darker skin needs carefully chosen settings. A fresh tan, light-sensitising medication, pregnancy, or a rash, infection or cold sore in the area can mean changing settings or waiting.
Why it takes a course
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser acts on hairs actively growing at the time. Reduction therefore builds over repeated sessions, and maintenance may be needed. It is described as hair reduction rather than permanent removal.
Planning around a short trip
A single visit can start a course but will not finish one. If you can return to Seoul, or continue with a clinic at home, tell the physician so the first session is planned accordingly. Shaving between sessions is fine; waxing and plucking remove the root the laser needs.
After the session
Redness and small bumps around the follicles can appear straight after, and how long they last varies. Keep the area out of the sun as part of aftercare. Areas assessed include the upper lip and chin, underarms, arms, legs and body lines.
