What the physician grades
The assessment covers acne severity, skin type and the medication and skincare you use now. From that, the physician sets which treatment to use, the order and the number of sessions by severity stage, rather than applying a fixed package. Extraction is added where appropriate.
Control, not cure
Acne involves sebum, blocked follicles, bacteria, inflammation and hormones, so treatment is usually about control. Recurrence can still happen. Neither PDT nor Gold PTT is presented as preventing acne from returning or avoiding scarring, and the combination is not claimed to outperform either alone.
Related options
Once breakouts are under control, marks left behind may be considered with pigment laser, and textural scars through staged scar revision or radiofrequency microneedling. Scar work usually waits until active acne settles, so the order of treatment matters.
Recovery and light after PDT
Redness, dryness, peeling or a temporary flare before improvement can occur. After PDT you avoid strong light for a period the physician sets, which matters for outdoor plans and daytime travel. Leave a buffer before flights and events and confirm it at consultation.
